Metropolitan Police are investigating after human bones were unearthed at Bedfont Lakes Country Park in Hounslow, west London. The discovery was reported last Wednesday, and officers have since confirmed the remains are human. An investigation is underway to determine the age and identity of the bones.

Residents have suggested that recent wildfires in the area may have contributed to the unearthing of the bones. The London Fire Brigade responded to at least two blazes at the park last month. Fires can burn away topsoil, potentially revealing objects buried beneath, meaning the remains could be either historical or modern.

A crime scene remains in place at the park. Police were called to the scene on Wednesday, August 12, after reports of bones being found. Further testing is being conducted to establish the age of the bones and ascertain identity.
