A man intervened and subdued a knifeman during a brawl that erupted at a bus station in Heswall, Liverpool, on Saturday evening, according to reports. Two teenage boys were taken to the hospital with injuries from a bladed weapon.
Emergency services responded to Heswall Bus Station on Telegraph Road around 6:35 p.m. after a fight involving a group of teenagers. One of the injured boys sustained a stab wound to the chest, while the other suffered a finger injury. Neither injury is considered life-threatening. Merseyside Police reported that teenage boys, believed to be between 15 and 17 years old, were arrested at the scene and taken into custody.
The altercation is believed to have occurred shortly after a bus arrived at the station. Reports suggest that more than one knife may have been used during the fight. Following the alleged stabbings, the group of teenagers reportedly dispersed, fleeing into nearby side streets.
Witnesses described one man, estimated to be in his 40s, as intervening by wrestling one of the boys to the ground and kicking a knife away. The knife was described as large. Other knives were reportedly present during the incident, which took place near local bars and restaurants.
An employee from a nearby takeaway reported seeing a boy being taken into an ambulance with significant blood loss. Police were observed arresting several individuals, including boys and two girls. The bus station was cordoned off for forensic investigations, with evidence markers placed on the ground. Two buses remained within the secured area.
Another witness, who works nearby, described seeing a woman run to assist one of the injured teenagers with a first aid kit. Local residents noted the unusual nature of such an incident in the typically quiet village.
Detective Inspector Steve Wilkinson of Merseyside Police stated that the force understands the concern such an event causes, especially given the age of those involved and the location. He emphasized that the possession of bladed weapons has devastating consequences and pledged to continue pursuing all individuals suspected of involvement. He also urged those who associate with weapon carriers to come forward with information.
Merseyside Police are continuing their inquiries, including reviewing CCTV footage, speaking to witnesses, and conducting forensic examinations. The force has appealed for anyone with information or footage related to the incident to contact them via their social media channels.
