Hero Mom Identified After Drowning While Saving Children in Bahamas

Leanne Gregory, 36, has been identified as the woman who died while attempting to save her two children from strong currents while snorkeling in the Bahamas. The incident occurred on Tuesday during a family trip, according to The Telegraph.

Gregory's mother-in-law, Kim Jones, described her as "the best mom in the world, just brilliant; a lovely woman who would do anything for anyone." Gregory was attempting to rescue her two sons, who were caught in a powerful current, when she was pulled out into the water herself.

Both boys were successfully rescued, but Gregory could not be saved. Her husband reportedly attempted to administer CPR, described as a "kiss of life," after she was pulled from the water.

"It is devastating. Leanne drowned trying to save her two boys who got into trouble in choppy waters," Jones told the outlet. "They can both swim, they’re good swimmers, but the current was too strong."

Gregory was pronounced dead by local medical professionals after being taken to a clinic. The family, originally from Nottinghamshire, was scheduled to return to the UK on Friday. Information regarding the repatriation of Gregory's body is not yet known.
