Haunted UAE Palace with 35 Rooms on Sale for $4.5 Million

A sprawling 35-room palace in the United Arab Emirates, reportedly haunted and dubbed a more tranquil alternative to nearby Dubai, is now for sale with a price tag of £4.5 million. Al Qasimi Palace, located in Ras al Khaimah, was originally constructed in 1985 by Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Qasimi and was once valued at approximately £107 million. The property has been unoccupied for many years.

The palace features ornate interiors, including crystal chandeliers imported from Europe, mosaics, painted tiles, gold trimmings, and a marble facade. The 12 astrological signs adorn the walls, and lifelike murals depict distant locations. A prominent glass pyramid structure tops the building, filtering sunlight to illuminate the floors below. The property also includes an indoor fountain, a prayer hall, and a star-shaped fountain.

In 2019, the palace was purchased and refurbished, subsequently opening as a tourist attraction, according to Visit Ras al Khaimah. Despite its restored grandeur, the palace is surrounded by tales of ghostly encounters. Local stories and former staff reports describe unexplained phenomena such as moving furniture, ghostly whispers, and the sounds of children crying and laughing. Some accounts even mention seeing ghostly faces, particularly those of children, in the windows. Local folklore also suggests the building is haunted by a jinn, or supernatural spirit.

The property spans 34,000 square feet and includes balconies and terraces. Listed by Bishop and Knight, the palace is described as a "rare architectural masterpiece" suitable for investors, collectors, or developers. It is suggested as a potential conversion into a museum or boutique hotel, or could be maintained as a private estate. The presence of unusual marble statues, animal murals, antique artifacts, and taxidermy are noted as contributing to the building's unique atmosphere.
