A Guyanese social media influencer known as Lola Doll was in critical condition after a gunman on a motorcycle opened fire on her while she sat in her car outside her East Ruimveldt home, the Guyana Police Force said.
The shooting occurred just before midnight Saturday. Police said the 33-year-old, whose legal name is Lolita Callender, was struck multiple times — including in the neck, face, hands and right leg — and was rushed to Georgetown Public Hospital in critical condition. "Preliminary information indicates that the victim was seated in her motor car when she was shot by a male on a motorcycle," the police said in a statement.
In an update Sunday afternoon, police named Paul Daby Jr. as a suspect wanted for attempted murder in connection with the attack. Investigators are reviewing closed-circuit television footage from the area and searching for the gunman, authorities said. No arrests had been reported as of the police update, and officials said the motive remained unclear.
Callender has more than 52,000 followers on Instagram and rose to prominence by promoting her music and appearing at flamboyant parties in revealing attire. She has appeared in several music videos for her own songs, including "Snatched" and "Cement Body," which have drawn hundreds of thousands of views online.
Local authorities provided limited details on the shooting as the investigation continued. Forensics and patrol units were reported to be canvassing the area for witnesses and additional surveillance footage, police said. The Guyana Police Force did not elaborate on any potential links between the suspect and the victim or offer details on a possible motive.
The attack follows a pattern of targeted shootings in urban areas where attackers use motorcycles to approach and flee scenes quickly, complicating immediate identification and apprehension of suspects. Guyana has seen periodic spikes in violent incidents in recent years, and police have increasingly relied on CCTV and community tips to develop leads and make arrests.
Friends, fans and local residents had not publicly commented through official channels by Sunday afternoon. Hospital officials gave no additional update on Callender's condition beyond that she remained in critical care.
The police urged anyone with information or footage of the incident to contact investigators as they continue to pursue leads. Authorities said the inquiry remains active and that further details would be released as they become available.
