Gunman Wounds 8 Near Turkish High School, Suspect Arrested
An assailant opened fire outside a vocational school in western Turkey; the motive is under investigation.
A gunman opened fire near a high school in western Turkey on Tuesday, wounding at least eight people, officials said. The suspected shooter was arrested following the incident in the Turgutlu district of Manisa province.
Police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene, and the injured were transported to local hospitals. Information regarding the conditions of those wounded was not immediately available. The motive for the attack remains under investigation.
This incident follows two other school shootings in Turkey earlier this year. In April, 16 people, primarily students, were injured when a former student opened fire at a high school in Sanliurfa province. The assailant died by suicide afterward. The following day, a 14-year-old student shot and killed nine students and teachers and wounded 13 others at his school in Kahramanmaras province before being killed by police.
