GP Found Dead During Children's Sleepover; Man Arrested
A general practitioner was discovered deceased in her home on Sunday morning while hosting a sleepover for children, leading to a murder investigation and the arrest of a man.
A general practitioner, identified as Hannah Cain, in her 40s, was found dead at her home in Dersingham, Norfolk, early Sunday morning. The discovery occurred while she was hosting a sleepover for children at the residence, located near the King's Sandringham estate.
Police were called to the property by the ambulance service shortly after 2:20 a.m. on Sunday. A man, also in his 40s, was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody. Detectives from the Norfolk and Suffolk Major Investigation Team have launched a murder investigation.
Dr. Cain, also known professionally as Dr. Hannah Terry, worked at the Grimston Medical Centre. The surgery announced on social media that it would be temporarily closed due to "extremely difficult circumstances affecting our practice team." Colleagues described Dr. Cain as a "lovely human being with three gorgeous young children."
Residents in the normally peaceful village described the area as having little crime. One neighbor noted that Dr. Terry had lived in the area for about ten years. The children present at the time of the incident have been returned to their families.
Authorities have been granted an additional 12 hours to question the suspect. A post-mortem examination by a Home Office pathologist is scheduled to be carried out to confirm the cause of death. Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
