Girl Seriously Injured in Wolf Attack at German Wildlife Park

An eight-year-old girl sustained serious injuries after being attacked by a wolf at the Johannismühle wildlife park in Brandenburg, Germany. The incident occurred on Wednesday while the girl was inside an enclosure with a staff member and two other children.

Police have stated that the precise circumstances of the attack are under investigation. The injured girl was airlifted to a hospital, and no other individuals were harmed during the incident. The park, located in the town of Baruth/Mark, has temporarily closed its doors and is scheduled to reopen on November 2.

The Johannismühle park houses both grey and arctic wolves, as well as other animals such as brown bears and lynx. According to the German newspaper Bild, the girl suffered head injuries. The attack reportedly took place before the park opened to the public at 10:00 local time. It is possible the girl was participating in a special visit, as the park offers small group tours that include activities like feeding wolves.

This incident follows a series of animal attacks at European zoos and wildlife parks in recent weeks. Earlier in the month, a man was killed by a tiger at Yorkshire Wildlife Park, and a zookeeper in the Netherlands died after being mauled by a leopard.
