Rioters looted shops in central Frankfurt late Saturday as clashes erupted in German cities over the cost of living. The demonstrations, organized by the campaign group Gen Z regelt, saw thousands participate across the country.

In Frankfurt, Germany's financial hub, at least 54 people were arrested and over 100 police officers were injured, according to authorities. Outbreaks of violence were also reported in Berlin, Cologne, and Hamburg.

The protests coincide with similar demonstrations occurring across Europe, driven by concerns over rising living costs, deteriorating public services, and a lack of affordable housing.
