A German influencer has died three weeks after a head-on cycling collision with an Olympic athlete in Italy. Laura Viktoria Härtig, 30, was on her honeymoon when the accident occurred on a road near Sella Pass in Northern Italy.

Härtig, known for sharing her outdoor adventures on Instagram, crashed into Peter Runggaldier, 57, a former Olympic skier who represented Italy in 1994 and 1999. The collision on June 23 happened two days after Härtig's wedding.

According to local reports, Härtig's bicycle broke in half upon impact, and she sustained life-threatening injuries. First responders resuscitated her at the scene before she was transported to a local hospital. She died on Saturday, 19 days after the crash, surrounded by family and friends in Germany.

Runggaldier issued a statement requesting privacy during his time of grief. "I ask you to respect my moment of pain and my need for confidentiality," he said. "My thoughts go out to all the people involved and their families. I trust in your sensitivity and please understand that at this time I will not give any interviews or statements."
