Operations to clean up streets and repair damage are underway across France following several nights of intense rioting. Despite the commencement of recovery efforts, security forces remain deployed, and curfews are in effect in several major cities.
Marseille, a port city in southern France, experienced some of the most severe damage, with over 600 commercial properties reported to have been looted. The unrest, which spread throughout the country, has prompted a significant police response.
While the immediate aftermath sees cleanup operations, the underlying factors contributing to the protests continue to be a focus of discussion and analysis.
