Four Men Arrested in Connection With Rape Allegation at GP Surgery

Four men have been arrested on suspicion of rape after a woman in her 30s was allegedly sexually assaulted in a GP surgery car park. The suspects, aged between 19 and 21, have been interviewed by detectives following the reported attack outside the Great Western Surgery in Swindon, Wiltshire.

The woman reported being sexually assaulted in the car park in Farriers Close in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Wiltshire Police stated that officers quickly tracked down and arrested the four men in connection with the incident. All four have since been interviewed and bailed with conditions by detectives, who are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged attack.

A police cordon was erected around the surgery's car park following the incident, forcing the GP practice to close and appointments to be moved elsewhere. Officers have also increased patrols in the area to reassure concerned residents.

Detective Inspector Tom Straker commented on the incident: "We recognise the concern that this worrying incident will have had in the local community. We were able to rapidly locate and arrest four men, two of whom are aged 21, a 19-year-old and a 20-year-old, in connection with the investigation. We are not currently looking for anyone else in relation to this. You may notice an increased police presence in the area. If you have any concerns, please do approach our officers."

The Whalebridge Group, which operates the Great Western Surgery, confirmed the practice's closure due to the police investigation. In a statement to patients, the group said: "Due to unforeseen circumstances The Great Western Surgery is closed due to a police cordon around the practice. We will keep you updated as soon as we have further information. Our team are working hard to move patients to our other 2 surgeries. You will receive a phone call or text notifying you of any changes to your appointment today."

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses who may have been in the Farriers Close area in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Detectives are also urging motorists and nearby residents to check whether they have CCTV or dashcam footage that could assist their investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Wiltshire Police on 101, quoting log 54260123495.
