Police have arrested four individuals in connection with a hate crime attack on a ship's crew near Avonmouth Docks. The incident, which occurred on Richmond Terrace on Tuesday evening, left one man with serious injuries and in critical condition.

Emergency services were called to the scene around 8:30 p.m. local time. Three crew members, all Filipino nationals, required medical attention. One man was taken to the hospital and is currently in critical condition. A second crew member was treated and has since been released, while a third sustained minor injuries.

Superintendent Deepak Kenth of Avon and Somerset police stated that there is evidence of racist language being directed at least one of the victims during the assault. "Therefore, we are treating this as a suspected hate crime at this point, pending further information coming to light," Kenth said.

Police have confirmed that three of the four arrested individuals face charges of attempted murder. Authorities have also addressed online speculation, clarifying that the injuries were not caused by a knife or similar weapon.
