Graeme Dott, a former world snooker champion, has gone on trial at the High Court in Glasgow facing allegations of child sexual abuse. The 49-year-old player denies charges of lewd and libidinous behavior involving two children, a girl and a boy, between 1993 and 2010.
The alleged incidents are reported to have occurred on various occasions at addresses in Glasgow's east end and South Lanarkshire, as well as in a car. Dott, who won the world title in 2006, has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
According to the prosecution, the allegations involving the girl include claims that Dott inappropriately touched her, instructed her to remove her clothing, and exposed himself. These incidents are said to have begun when the witness was between nine and 10 years old at a house in Glasgow. She testified that Dott offered to carry her downstairs, and at the bottom of the landing, he allegedly began caressing her backside while her legs were wrapped around him.
In the separate allegations concerning the boy, Dott is accused of making sexual remarks, entering a bathroom to watch the boy shower, and molesting him. The female witness who made the allegations is now in her 40s.
