Derek McNee, 43, was jailed at the High Court in Glasgow on Monday after pleading guilty to a rape charge. He was also ordered to be monitored for 18 months after his release. The incident occurred in 2025 at a house in Milngavie, Dunbartonshire.
McNee was apprehended when police discovered four incriminating videos on his mobile phone, which depicted him performing sexual acts on the woman while she was intoxicated, asleep, or unconscious. The court heard that McNee had asked the woman if it would arouse her if he "did things" while she slept, and she had agreed. He also suggested filming the acts, and the woman responded that he could if he wished. However, she later asked him to delete the footage after he sent it to her.
McNee served in the police for seven years until 2016 before operating a dog grooming business in Paisley. He was arrested for the sex attacks in December 2025. In addition to the rape charge, McNee also admitted to harassing another woman between 2021 and 2025 in Glasgow and Paisley. He further pleaded guilty to possessing a stun gun, discovered during a search of his car in August 2025.
He has been placed on the sex offenders register and is prohibited from contacting or approaching the victims. This is not McNee's first encounter with the justice system; he was previously spared jail in 2021 for terrorizing a young woman in Glasgow.
