Former Conservative councillor Philip Young has admitted to drugging and sexually abusing his wife, Joanne Young, over a 13-year period. Young, 50, pleaded guilty to a total of 56 charges, including rape, drugging, and voyeurism, the court heard.
Four other men are currently on trial at Winchester Crown Court accused of sexually abusing Mrs. Young. Mohammed Hassan, 38, has pleaded not guilty to one count of sexual touching. Connor Sanderson-Doyle, 32, denies sexual assault by penetration and sexual touching. Richard Wilkins, 62, has pleaded not guilty to one count of rape and one of assault by penetration. Norman Macksoni, 48, denies one count of rape.
A sixth defendant, Dean Hamilton, 47, has admitted to one charge of assault by penetration, two counts of sexual assault, and one of rape. He will be sentenced at the conclusion of the trial.
The court heard that Young posted approximately 20 advertisements on Craigslist inviting men to have sex with his wife. One advert reportedly stated, "When my wife gets p***ed, she gets randy and we have started running through some fantasies and one of the fantasies is having her tied to the bed." Another message from Young to Hassan allegedly said, "I had a vasectomy a while ago so she is completely unprotected. The thought of a slight risk is a great thrill for us. If anything did happen we know nothing about you so there would be no comeback."
Prosecutors revealed that analysis of Young's devices uncovered 300 emails exchanged with other individuals between 2015 and 2019. Adverts were also posted on sites including Grindr and Fab Swingers under the username "London Monkey." The court was also told that 480 images of Mrs. Young were found on Young's devices, with the majority reportedly taken without her knowledge or consent.
In 2015, police attended Young's home after Border Force intercepted a package containing a class C controlled medication, which can be used as a sedative and is known as a date-rape drug. The jury was also informed that Young was prescribed a sedative for a sleeping problem.
Mrs. Young has waived her right to anonymity. The trial continues.
