A flash flood along the Budhi Gandaki River in Nepal's Gorkha district has swept away houses, bridges, and a hydropower project, authorities reported Sunday.
The army rescued 49 people from the affected areas, but five individuals are still missing, according to the district's top official. The flood is believed to have been triggered by a landslide upstream.
Approximately two dozen houses and four bridges were destroyed by the surge of water. A camp at a local hydropower project was also impacted.
This event occurs two months after Nepal experienced devastating floods and landslides that caused widespread destruction, significant loss of life, and left thousands missing.
