The fire broke out shortly after midnight local time, according to the Graubünden cantonal police. Nearly 100 firefighters responded to the incident. Initial investigations suggest the fire started on the second floor, though the exact cause is still under investigation.

The building as seen from the air - it is next to a river. Smoke rises from the building at night, while at least five fire engines are parked nearby and on the bridge over the river.
