The family of Elisabeth Ross, a Scottish aid worker found dead in a suitcase in Athens, Greece, has paid tribute to her, describing her as "kind, principled and selfless."

Ross, 38, known as Lisa, was discovered in an abandoned building in the Kypseli district of the city on July 18. She had been reported missing several days prior.

Friends and her church in Edinburgh also shared tributes to Ross, who had been volunteering with a refugee support group in Greece.

Her family released a statement saying, "Lisa will always be remembered by us as kind, principled and selfless. Her integrity was absolute, and she dedicated her life to helping others in need. We are in deep pain, and we ask for time and privacy as we come to terms with our loss."

A 26-year-old boxer from Afghanistan, Sharif Ahmadzai, has been accused of her murder, along with robbery and weapons offenses.
