EU Helicopter Crashes in Bosnia, Killing 3
An Italian helicopter belonging to the European Union peacekeeping force crashed in northern Bosnia, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries.

A helicopter belonging to the European Union peacekeeping force in Bosnia crashed Thursday in the country's north, with officials reporting that three people died and 12 were injured. The aircraft, an Italian CH-47 Chinook, went down in an area near the town of Brcko.
The EU force, known as EUFOR, confirmed the crash and stated that an investigation is underway. Local media outlets in Bosnia reported the casualty figures, and the district mayor of Brcko also confirmed the deaths and injuries to Bosnian Serb television.
Images from the scene, carried by the Klix news portal, showed the wreckage of the helicopter on a lawn. EUFOR released a separate statement confirming that no civilian infrastructure, property, or vehicles were damaged, and no civilians were injured in the incident.
EUFOR's mission in Bosnia, comprising 1,200 soldiers, took over from NATO in 2004. Its mandate, established by a U.N. Security Council resolution, is to help maintain security and oversee the military aspects of a peace agreement that concluded the Bosnian War.
