Estonia has been named the best country in the world to relocate to in 2026, according to the Rumavi Global Relocation Index. The small Baltic nation scored 72.8, excelling in areas such as banking infrastructure, business opportunities, and property rights for non-citizens. The index also identified Estonia as the top destination for families.

Singapore secured the second position, recognized for its favorable conditions for entrepreneurs and families, strong currency and banking systems, and advanced digital infrastructure. However, the report noted that high housing costs and limited pathways to permanent residency are significant considerations for potential relocators.

Malaysia ranked third, scoring well for retirees and digital nomads. The country offers lower living costs compared to the UK, favorable treatment of foreign income, tropical weather, and the common use of English, making it an attractive option for those seeking a new home.

Portugal followed in fourth place, lauded for its sunny weather, balanced lifestyle, and affordability, which has led to a significant increase in British expatriates. The country's D7 Passive Income Visa and strong private healthcare sector contribute to its appeal.

Taiwan took fifth place with a score of 71.4, noted for its safe environment and excellent sights. Strengths include its digital infrastructure and healthcare, though language barriers and restrictive residency pathways were identified as drawbacks.

Other countries rounding out the top ten include Lithuania (sixth), Hong Kong (seventh), Saint Kitts and Nevis (eighth), Czechia (ninth), and Malta (tenth).

Lithuania was highlighted for its currency and banking infrastructure, green spaces, and property rights for non-citizens, making it particularly suitable for families. Hong Kong was recognized for its business environment and tax efficiency, while Saint Kitts and Nevis appealed with its tropical climate, tax advantages, and high quality of life. Czechia was noted for its family-friendly environment and low climate risk. Malta, a popular choice for retirees, offers a remittance tax system and was noted for its Mediterranean climate and architecture.

The United Kingdom was ranked 49th in the global index. The report considered various factors, including economic stability, quality of life, healthcare, and ease of integration for individuals and families.
