Eleven people have been killed and 27 injured in western Turkey following a collision between a tourist bus and a lorry that caused the bus to overturn. The accident occurred near a motorway slip road between the cities of Bursa and Izmir.

Images from the scene suggest the lorry impacted the rear of the coach, causing severe crumpling of the vehicle's rear end. Debris, apparently from the truck, was scattered on the grass alongside the Gebze-Orhangazi-Izmir Highway.

Debris lay strewn on the grass while the coach's rear end appeared crumpled.

Of the 27 individuals injured, 16 were transported to local hospitals for treatment. Emergency services were promptly dispatched to the location.

Mustafa Ciftci, Turkey's interior minister, confirmed that emergency services were actively involved and that authorities were closely monitoring the situation in coordination with relevant institutions. Turkish media reported that the drivers of both the coach and the truck have been detained as the investigation into the cause of the crash continues. Their medical conditions were not immediately clear.
