An elevator in a Russian high-rise building plummeted several floors, causing injuries to four men. The incident occurred in Makhachkala, Dagestan, when nine passengers entered an elevator with a capacity limit of six.

Video footage captured the moment the elevator suddenly dropped, violently tossing the passengers and forcing them to the floor. Officials reported that the elevator fell approximately 50 feet from the fourth floor to the ground. Emergency services responded to the scene, and the four injured passengers were treated for broken legs. The region's health ministry stated that the lives of those injured are not in danger.

The building where the incident took place was completed in 2021 but had not received a commissioning certificate from housing officials. This lack of certification has raised questions about the elevator's legality and safety. Dagestan's housing authority is investigating, and Russia's Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case concerning the failure to meet safety requirements. The apartment building is reportedly one of 180 unauthorized high-rises in the region.
