A British Airways flight bound for Las Vegas was grounded and returned to the terminal at Heathrow Airport on Thursday after a passenger became violently disruptive before takeoff.
The 31-year-old man, reportedly intoxicated, began a drunken fit, yelling and attempting to attack other passengers. Videos of the incident show the man repeatedly leaving his seat and flailing his arms as flight attendants attempted to de-escalate the situation.
"If I have to tell you again, I will be restraining you, sir, if you do not stay seated," one flight attendant warned the passenger. Despite the warnings, the man made several attempts to move from his seat.
Authorities were called to the aircraft, and the passenger was removed from the plane in handcuffs. Local police identified the individual and arrested him on suspicion of being drunk onboard an aircraft. He remains in custody as investigations continue.
A spokesperson for British Airways stated that the airline does not tolerate disruptive or abusive behavior and will take appropriate action when such incidents occur.
