Utah County Sheriff’s Office has released dramatic video footage of a high-altitude rescue involving a hiker who fell hundreds of feet from the summit of Mount Timpanogos on October 26. The hiker was navigating the trail when she lost her footing and slid down the 11,700-foot peak, eventually coming to rest on a narrow cliff ledge.

Search and Rescue pilot spotted the hiker from an airplane as team members were deployed to the mountain. The video captures the hiker's steep descent and the moments a rescue helicopter hovered above to hoist her to safety. Officials confirmed that the hiker is recovering well from her injuries and wished her a full and speedy recovery.

The incident serves as a reminder of how quickly outdoor activities can become life-threatening situations. Mount Timpanogos, located about 50 miles south of Salt Lake City, features numerous trails managed by the U.S. Forest Service.
