Dozens Injured in South Korean Supermarket Ceiling Collapse

At least 38 people sustained minor injuries on Saturday after a plaster ceiling collapsed at a supermarket in South Korea’s Daegu city, according to fire officials.
The Daegu Fire Department reported that 66 other individuals evacuated the building following the incident, which occurred at 10:16 a.m. Nine people received hospital treatment.
An official from the fire department, Yoon Jong-mi, stated that while the number of injured could still rise, emergency personnel on the scene assessed that serious injuries were highly unlikely.
Photographs from the scene depicted rescue workers searching through debris. The collapse occurred on the second floor of the four-story structure. The cause of the collapse was not immediately clear.
South Korean President Lee Jae Myung's office announced that he had directed officials to make every effort to facilitate rescues and ensure a thorough response to the incident.
