A suspected sex attacker was chased through a Melbourne park by six dogs after he allegedly ambushed two women. The incident occurred Tuesday morning at Righetti Oval in Kooyong, near Gardiners Creek.
According to reports, the women were walking with their dogs when a man emerged from bushes and grabbed one of them. After she broke free, the man reportedly targeted the second woman, who also managed to fend him off. At this point, the women's dogs began barking and pursued the man.
Footage released shows the six dogs of various breeds chasing the man as he fled towards a tunnel beneath the Monash Freeway. One dog, described as a blue heeler, reportedly jumped up and latched onto the man's leg, tearing his pants. The man can be heard yelling at the dogs before he eventually escaped.
Police are investigating the attempted sexual assault. The man is described as being of African appearance, wearing a black tracksuit, a grey hooded top, white socks and slides, and carrying a large bright blue backpack. Authorities are appealing for information, CCTV, or dashcam footage.
