A dog has been euthanized after it attacked a young girl at a Bunnings store in Delacombe, Victoria. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning.

The girl sustained a bite to her lower leg and received initial treatment at the store before being transported to Ballarat Hospital. Her condition was reported as stable.

The City of Ballarat confirmed it attended the dog attack and that the animal was voluntarily surrendered by its owners for euthanasia on Wednesday afternoon. The city's director of development and growth, Natalie Robertson, stated that a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack is underway and that further comment would be withheld during the process.

A Bunnings spokesperson expressed sympathy for the girl and her family and indicated that the company would support the relevant authorities in their inquiries.
