Mathilde Favier, the director of public relations at Christian Dior Couture, and her partner, film producer Nicolas Altmayer, have died in a car accident in Western France. Favier was 57 and Altmayer was 61.
The couple was reportedly attempting to overtake another vehicle when their car collided with a heavy goods vehicle.
Dior released a statement Tuesday morning mourning Favier, whom the company described as an "exceptional woman." The statement noted her significant contributions to the reputation of Christian Dior Couture through her commitment and elegance, and highlighted her "communicative joy, talent, and loyalty."
Delphine Arnault, CEO of Dior, also issued a personal message, expressing sadness over the loss of a "loyal friend." Arnault remembered Favier's optimism and courage, stating that her smile and talent would be sorely missed. She extended condolences to Favier's children, mother, sisters, family, friends, and team.
Favier had been with Dior for over 13 years, having previously worked at Glamour magazine and Prada. Altmayer was a French producer credited with work on more than 80 films.
Favier had two children, Héloïse Agostinelli, 27, and Carlo Agostinelli, 25, from her first marriage to Robert Agostinelli. She later married Antoine Meyer and then Altmayer.
In a 2024 interview, Favier discussed her approach to an "effortlessly chic" lifestyle, emphasizing deliberate choices and a focus on refinement, which she described as a combination of "freshness" and "taste" rather than wealth. She stated that achieving such a lifestyle requires effort, countering the notion that it is always effortless.
