An urgent recall has been issued for Deep Heat Extra Strength 100g cream in Australia due to bacterial contamination. The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) announced the recall on Monday, affecting products sold at major retailers including Coles, Woolworths, and Chemist Warehouse.

Mentholatum Australasia Pty Ltd, the manufacturer, is conducting the recall after tests revealed higher than acceptable levels of the bacteria Pluralibacter gergoviae in the cream. The TGA stated that contaminated products pose a risk of serious infections, particularly for individuals with broken skin or compromised immune systems.

The affected batch codes are V772 and V773, both with an expiry date of June 2029. Consumers who have purchased these specific batches are advised not to use the product. They are instructed to return the cream to their place of purchase or contact Mentholatum Australasia directly for assistance.
