LONDON (AP) — Grammy-winning singer Chris Brown has avoided prison time for an assault at a London nightclub three years ago. On Monday, he received an eight-month sentence, suspended for one year, for beating a music producer with a tequila bottle.

The incident occurred in February 2023 at Tape, a private club in London's Mayfair neighborhood. Brown, 37, had pleaded guilty in July to a count of affray, which is defined as the use or threat of unlawful violence that causes another person to fear for their safety. He faced a potential maximum of three years in prison.
