Singer Chris Brown appeared at Southwark Crown Court in London for an administrative hearing on Friday, July 24, 2026, ahead of his trial concerning allegations of a violent attack on a music producer. Brown, 37, has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The prosecution alleges that the incident occurred in the early hours of February 19, 2023, at the Tape nightclub in Mayfair. Prosecutors claim Brown, without provocation, struck producer Abraham Diaw multiple times with a tequila bottle. CCTV footage is said to show Brown pursuing Mr. Diaw through the venue and then assaulting him on the floor.
Brown faces charges of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and possessing an offensive weapon. The two lesser charges were added in June of the previous year to the more serious GBH count, to which he had already pleaded not guilty.
Brown was arrested in May 2026 at the Lowry Hotel in Salford after arriving in the UK. He was held for nearly a week before being released on a reported £5 million security fee. He was granted temporary permission to reclaim his passport for his world tour in October, but was required to surrender his documents upon arrival in each country.
The trial for the nightclub incident is scheduled for October 2026.
Chris Brown is a Grammy-winning artist known for numerous hits and has released ten studio albums since his 2005 debut. He is considered one of the most successful R&B artists of his generation.
