Reynaldo Mayna Cordero, 35, has been arrested and charged with rape in connection with the alleged assault of a 27-year-old woman in her Brooklyn apartment building, authorities reported. Cordero faces additional charges including sexual abuse and forcible touching.
The incident occurred early Sunday morning when the suspect allegedly approached the victim from behind on an e-bike. According to police, Cordero initially slapped the victim's buttocks over her clothing before riding away. He then reportedly returned, followed the woman into her building, and assaulted her. He fled the scene on the e-bike.
The victim was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. Police released a photo of Cordero after his arrest on Monday evening. There is no indication that Cordero knew the victim, according to sources.
