British Woman Dies in Suspected Drowning Incident in Ibiza

A British woman has died after encountering trouble in the water at S'Arenal Gros beach in Ibiza. The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon.
Lifeguards, a British doctor who was present, a firefighter, and an off-duty nurse attempted to save the woman's life. Local police and paramedics continued resuscitation efforts, but the woman was pronounced dead at approximately 5:30 p.m. The deceased has been identified as a pensioner who was staying at the adults-only Sandos El Greco Hotel, located less than a kilometer from the beach.
The Civil Guard has ordered an autopsy to determine if drowning was the cause of death or if a pre-existing health condition contributed to the incident. S'Arenal Gros beach is known for its fine sand and shallow, clear waters, making it a popular destination for families.
A spokesperson for the Foreign Office confirmed that they are providing support to the family of the British woman who died in Spain.
This incident follows a separate event in Portugal where a 58-year-old British man was found dead at Pintadinho Beach in the Algarve. Lifeguards discovered his body floating in the water and initiated CPR. Paramedics arrived on the scene but were unable to revive him. An investigation into the cause of his death is underway, and psychologists have been mobilized to support his family.
