An 18-year-old British holidaymaker is fighting for his life after a quad bike he was riding crashed into a tourist bus on the popular Greek island of Zakynthos. The incident occurred on Friday evening as the teenager and a passenger were pulling out of a side alley onto the main Laganas road.
The quad bike was struck by a tourist bus, sending the occupants to Zakynthos General Hospital. The 18-year-old rider was admitted in serious condition, while the passenger sustained less severe injuries, according to local media.
An investigation into the exact circumstances of the crash is ongoing. This incident follows a similar, serious accident involving another British teenager on a quad bike on the same island last month.
In June, 18-year-old Alfie Moses suffered severe spinal injuries and other critical wounds after crashing his quad bike on his birthday. He was airlifted to a hospital in Athens, where his family is reportedly facing a significant medical bill, with concerns about insurance coverage for quad bike rentals, which can be excluded from policies. Moses' mother has raised concerns about the safety standards of quad bike hire on the island, suggesting that younger tourists may be easily renting potentially dangerous vehicles at low costs without fully understanding the risks.
