A 17-year-old British student has died after going missing while swimming in Lake Malawi. The incident occurred on Tuesday at Cape Maclear.
The student, identified as Eugene Enoch Kwon from Hampton in southwest London, disappeared while snorkeling. Divers located him underwater and he was transported to Monkey Bay Community Hospital. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Malawi police confirmed the cause of death was suffocation due to drowning. The student was part of a school trip to the African nation.
