British rapper and YouTuber Yung Filly is set to face a retrial in Australia on three rape charges, after a jury was unable to reach a decision on those counts during his recent trial. The jury did, however, acquit him on several other sexual assault charges.
Yung Filly, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, faced a total of 10 charges stemming from an alleged incident following a performance at a Perth nightclub in 2024. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Last month, a jury found Barrientos not guilty of three counts of sexual penetration without consent. He was also acquitted of one assault charge and another charge of strangulation. However, the jury found him guilty of two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm. Sentencing for these convictions will occur after the retrial.
During the trial, the court heard that the 31-year-old social media personality allegedly had consensual sexual relations with a 20-year-old fan in his hotel room. The fan later alleged that the encounter turned violent, and that Barrientos continued despite her requests to stop.
Barrientos is scheduled to appear in court again on August 27 for a bail variation application. A date for the retrial has not yet been set.
