A 34-year-old British man of Somali origin has been charged with attempted murder after a vehicle struck five pedestrians in London. Timir Ahmed Mohamed, of Grange Park, Ealing, was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday morning.

Mohamed also faces charges of dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene, failing to provide a breath specimen for analysis, and criminal damage. The charges follow a police investigation into a collision on Ealing Broadway that occurred around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Three of the five injured individuals were transported to the hospital. The Metropolitan Police stated that none of the injuries sustained were considered life-threatening or life-changing. The two individuals who did not require hospital transport received medical attention at the scene.

Footage from the incident appears to show bystanders attempting to stop the car before pursuing it and trying to open the door as it sped away. A witness on a local social media group reported that the car "came out of nowhere" and struck people who were waiting at a pedestrian crossing.

Law enforcement, including Counter Terrorism Policing London, conducted initial inquiries into the incident. However, the Metropolitan Police confirmed that the event is not being treated as terrorism, although investigators are keeping an open mind regarding the motive.

Road closures were in effect in the area to facilitate the ongoing investigation. The London Ambulance Service reported being called to the scene at 2:29 p.m. and dispatched multiple resources, including ambulance crews, fast response paramedics, and London's Air Ambulance. They treated three patients at the scene, taking one to a major trauma center and the other two to a local hospital.
