A British national wanted on suspicion of attempted murder has been arrested at Tenerife South Airport. The 46-year-old was detained by National Police officers immediately after disembarking a flight from Liverpool.

Authorities confirmed the arrest is in connection with an alleged savage knife attack at a tourist complex in Adeje, in the south of the island, in December of the previous year. The victim sustained life-threatening injuries, including wounds to the neck, but survived due to the intervention of a witness. The alleged assailant fled the scene, and an investigation remained open.

The arrested man was already subject to a warrant for attempted homicide. Police also noted that he faces additional charges, including reckless driving, assault on law enforcement officers, and causing bodily harm.

In a separate but related development, police in Tenerife recently released footage of the arrest of fraudster Pamela Gwinnett, also a British national, on the island. Gwinnett, 62, had fled to Tenerife in April 2025 while on bail awaiting trial for defrauding an elderly woman of nearly £300,000. She was convicted in her absence in October of the same year and sentenced to six years in jail. Following her arrest, she is expected to be extradited to the UK to serve her sentence.
