British Man Arrested After Taxi Driver Stabbed 16 Times in Spain

A British man has been arrested in Spain following a violent knife attack that left a taxi driver with at least 16 stab wounds. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. on Saturday at an industrial estate in Seville.
The victim, who sustained injuries to his hands, arms, neck, and shoulder blade, was reportedly stabbed repeatedly over several minutes. The knife used in the assault reportedly broke during the attack. The suspect is alleged to have asked the taxi driver to take him to a shopping center before changing his destination to the industrial estate where the stabbing took place.
According to local reports, the taxi driver declined to continue the journey after becoming suspicious of the passenger's intentions, which led to the violent reaction.
The injured driver managed to reach police headquarters, where he received initial treatment from a police officer before emergency medical responders arrived. Local police located and arrested the suspect shortly thereafter. The arrested man, who had traces of blood on him, reportedly offered strong resistance.
A spokesperson for a city emergency response coordination center confirmed the incident, stating, "A taxi driver was injured after being stabbed numerous times early this morning by a passenger he was transporting." The National Police have taken charge of the investigation.
The suspect remains in custody, and the weapon was recovered. He is expected to face an attempted murder charge and will appear before a judge by Monday at the latest. It is unclear whether the British man was on holiday or resided in the area. The taxi driver's injuries are not considered life-threatening, although he remains hospitalized.
