A 12-year-old British girl, Carmelita Lakdesha Paul, has been reported missing after disappearing during a family holiday in Japan.

Carmelita arrived in Japan with her parents and older brother on July 21. Her family last saw her on August 12 at their Tokyo accommodation. They discovered she was missing the following morning, according to Japanese broadcaster ANN News.

She was reported missing to police at 9:30 a.m. on August 13. Her father stated that he had spoken to her the night before and noted no suspicious behavior.

Carmelita was captured on CCTV later that morning walking in the Kamata district, near the family's lodging. She appeared to be wearing a blue sleeveless top, a black and white skirt, black pumps, and carrying a pink handbag.

Authorities reported that Carmelita then boarded a train at Kamata Station, traveling approximately 20 minutes south to Yokohama Station. However, her movements have not been tracked beyond that point.

Her family believes she took no more than a few thousand yen, equivalent to about £70, and did not take her phone or passport with her.

Carmelita is described as being 5 feet 3 inches tall, of medium build, with curly dark hair. The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) confirmed it is supporting the family of the missing child and is in contact with local authorities.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding her whereabouts to contact the Tokyo authorities.
