A British father has been charged with negligence after his three-year-old son died in a fall from a hotel window in Cyprus. The incident occurred approximately 40 minutes after the family checked into the hotel for a two-week holiday.

The 37-year-old father and his son were reportedly playing in a fourth-floor corridor while waiting for an elevator when the toddler fell 33 feet to the hotel's main veranda below. An ambulance was called, but paramedics pronounced the child dead at the scene. Subsequent medical examinations confirmed the child died from severe traumatic brain injury and multiple organ damage resulting from the fall.

The boy's grandfather was also present and witnessed the tragedy. The father, who has not been publicly identified, appeared at Paphos District Court charged with causing death through negligence, reckless and dangerous actions, and failing in his duty of care. He was remanded in custody for eight days while the investigation continues. Police are gathering statements and reviewing CCTV footage from the hotel.

The British High Commission has stated it is aware of the case and is providing consular assistance to the family.
