Boy, 11, Dies After Sydney Home Shooting

An 11-year-old boy has died three days after being shot in the face during an attack on a home in Sydney's northwest.

NSW Police confirmed the boy's death on Thursday evening. He had been rushed to the hospital in critical condition after the shooting, which occurred Monday evening in Norwest. Police were informed of his death around 8 p.m. Thursday.

There were five other individuals at the property at the time of the shooting, including the boy's mother, but none sustained injuries. Investigators have since arrested three men, all 18 years old. Two were released pending further investigation, while the third, identified as Isaac Bechara, was charged with concealing a serious indictable offense. His case was briefly heard in Blacktown Local Court on Tuesday, and he is scheduled to appear before Parramatta Local Court on October 1.

Reports indicate the boy's father has a prior conviction for dealing cocaine, and his former residence was targeted in a drive-by shooting last year. However, NSW Police have stated that the current incident does not appear to be linked.

Superintendent Naomi Moore of the Hills District Police Area Command described the situation as tragic and noted that it was too early to determine the exact circumstances of the shooting. She added that there was no current indication of organized crime involvement but that a thorough investigation would be conducted. Moore also conveyed the profound distress of the boy's mother, emphasizing the gravity of the situation for any parent.

On Monday, Superintendent Moore stated that no firearm had been recovered and no guns were registered at the address. The investigation is ongoing.
