Australian Tourist Injured in Bali Bag-Snatching Attempt
A 74-year-old Australian woman sustained injuries to her forehead and elbow during an alleged bag-snatching incident captured on CCTV in Bali.
Chilling footage has emerged of the moment an Australian tourist was injured during an alleged bag-snatching attempt in Bali.
Gisela Morhke, 74, was walking along Bumi Ayu Street in Sanur on September 21 at about 4:52 p.m. local time when the incident occurred. Sanur is a popular tourist destination on Bali's southeast coast.
CCTV footage shows Morhke walking alone when a motorbike approaches her from behind. As she walks towards the edge of the camera's view, she appears to be pulled forward while holding onto her bag.
South Denpasar Police investigator First Inspector Azel Arisandi stated that Morhke suffered injuries to the right side of her forehead and her right elbow. Despite the assault, she managed to retain her bag, meaning no items were stolen.
No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
