A man was rescued from his sinking vehicle by an Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) journalist who was reporting on local floods. The incident occurred in Morayfield, Queensland, when the driver of an SUV drove into deep floodwaters.
Journalist Will Murray was at the scene reporting for ABC when he witnessed the vehicle enter the water. Murray and a bystander immediately went to the driver's aid as the SUV began to sink. Murray stated that there was no hesitation in jumping to help, as the situation was developing rapidly and the man could have drowned. "Better that you jump in and give it a crack," Murray told BBC News, describing the immediate reaction to the unfolding event.
