Australian Man Arrested on Double Murder Charges After Neighbouring Residents Found Dead
A 32-year-old has been charged with murder following the discovery of two bodies at a rural New South Wales property.
A 32-year-old man has been arrested and charged with two counts of murder after the bodies of two people were discovered two weeks apart at a property in Gurranang, rural New South Wales. Police were first called to the property on Summerland Way on September 13 after the body of a 79-year-old man was found inside the residence.
During subsequent inquiries on Monday into the first death, officers established a second crime scene. They then discovered the body of a second man, believed to be 59 years old.
Homicide Commander Detective Superintendent Joe Doueihi stated that the 59-year-old had traveled from another state to assist with the initial investigation and to settle the estate of the 79-year-old, who was a relative. "Unfortunately, he returned to that premises, where he was set upon by the neighbour, and sustained fatal injuries," Doueihi told Nine.
The 32-year-old suspect was arrested at a hospital on Tuesday at approximately 12:20 p.m. He is also charged with stealing a motor vehicle. Investigations into the incidents are ongoing.
