A West Australian father allegedly killed his two young children before taking his own life in a Bali villa, according to police. Maritime worker Damien John Shaw, 56, from Fremantle, was discovered dead alongside his six-year-old son and four-year-old daughter in their Kuta bungalow on Sunday. The incident occurred three days after Shaw's Indonesian wife had traveled to Jakarta.
Denpasar Police Chief Senior Commissioner Leonardo D Simatupang stated that Shaw's relationship with his wife had been strained since 2022. On September 10, after his wife departed for Jakarta, she reportedly noticed unusual activity on the villa's CCTV footage. She then alerted local authorities and the bungalow owner.
Police observed that Shaw had intentionally disabled the CCTV cameras within the living area. Footage from the remaining cameras showed Shaw pursuing his daughter. During the chase, the young girl repeatedly called out, "I love you, Daddy." Authorities speculate that the daughter's fear may have stemmed from witnessing her older brother being harmed by their father earlier.
