Professional boxer Josh Frederiksen, 36, died after a skydiving accident in Queensland, Australia. The incident occurred during a sport skydiving jump on Wednesday at Skydive Ramblers Toogoolawah, northwest of Brisbane.

According to the Australian Parachute Federation, Frederiksen had opened his parachute, and it functioned normally. However, the jump went awry due to turbulence encountered near the ground, leading to a crash landing in the Somerset region. Frederiksen was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital with severe injuries to his chest, pelvis, and abdomen, where he passed away overnight.

Frederiksen was a qualified skydiver with more than 100 jumps to his name prior to the accident. He was also known as a breath coach and men's retreat facilitator. He had a professional boxing career with 13 wins and five losses.

Friends and family have shared tributes on social media, remembering Frederiksen as an "incredible human being" and expressing their grief over his loss. A GoFundMe campaign has been initiated to help cover funeral expenses and provide financial support to his loved ones.

Queensland Police are preparing a report for the coroner. In 2024, Frederiksen had spoken about boxing playing a role in his rehabilitation from drug addiction while he was incarcerated, calling it a "major turning point" in his life. He detailed how boxing helped him choose a different path and discover a new sense of self.
