At Least 35 Killed in Russian Attacks Across Ukraine

At least 35 people were killed and over 30 others were injured in Russian attacks across Ukraine overnight and into Thursday morning, according to Ukrainian authorities.

In Kramatorsk, in the Donetsk region, a strike on a passenger bus resulted in at least 30 fatalities and 18 injuries, the city council stated Thursday. Officials described the attack as targeting a civilian vehicle, noting that public transport in the city has been suspended.

"Once again, the Russians have struck a location where there is absolutely no military target," the city council said in a statement. "A passenger bus. A civilian vehicle. People simply going about their daily business."

The recent casualties bring the death toll from Russian attacks over the past 48 hours to at least 60. This follows a deadly Wednesday in which at least 25 people were killed across the country, including 22 in an attack on a residential building in Pryluky, where at least four children were among the victims.

"Even after such a brutal attack, the Russians continued striking our regions," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Thursday. "This morning, Russia hit an ordinary public transport stop in Kramatorsk with an aerial bomb."

Smoke rises over the city during a Russian jet-powered drone strike, amid Russia's attack on Ukraine, in Kyiv, Ukraine, October 8, 2026.
