The MV Caledonian Isles ferry, operated by CalMac, was evacuated on Friday evening due to a bomb threat. The incident occurred shortly after a passenger was reported overboard from the vessel during its 4:40 p.m. sailing from Brodick to Ardrossan. Emergency services responded to the scene, and passengers and individuals at the port were directed to a nearby car park while the threat was investigated. Vehicles remained on board the ferry during the evacuation.
CalMac CEO Duncan Mackison stated that the company's staff and crew were following emergency procedures in coordination with emergency services. No injuries were reported among those on board. He assured customers that they would be kept informed as the situation developed. The ferry operator subsequently canceled remaining scheduled sailings from Ardrossan on Friday evening. CalMac is the largest ferry operator in the UK, managing 29 routes along Scotland's west coast.
